We wanted to share a quick update about the software we use for Making Tax Digital (MTD) submissions.
For several years, we’ve used Vital Tax to file VAT returns for our clients. It’s an HMRC-recognised “bridging” tool that works directly with Excel, allowing us to link clients’ existing spreadsheets to HMRC’s systems without having to move everything into new accounting software.
We are also now using Vital Tax for voluntary submissions for MTD for Income Tax (MTD for IT).
This is particularly useful for clients who want to prepare in advance for the upcoming MTD requirements that will apply to self-employed businesses and landlords over the next few years.
One of the key advantages is that Vital Tax can handle multiple sources of income under MTD for Income Tax.
If you have:
• More than one self-employment,
• A combination of self-employment and property income, or
• Other eligible income streams
… we can set each source up separately in the software and submit the quarterly updates and annual declarations HMRC requires.
Transparency
We’d like to be clear — we receive no commission, referral fee, or any other financial incentive from Vital Tax. It’s simply our chosen tool because:
• It’s reliable and compliant,
• It integrates seamlessly with spreadsheets, and
• It allows us to manage multiple businesses or income sources efficiently within one system.
If you have any questions about how MTD will affect you, or if you’d like us to help with setting up voluntary submissions, please get in touch.
